Club Sailing

Although the club has no lake or sea access, we welcome our members to on-land training and on-water education, which is provided on different occasions. Children are introduced to sailing, our friend’s clubs invite for invitational regattas throughout the year attending regattas and competitions through Europe and overseas, members are regularly participating in races and our Racing team is representing the GYC on various Championships and the Olympics. Interested members are supported with inscription, organisation and other details.

Nostromino, the Wally Nano MK11 007 that blends Italian style with Dutch know-how, was launched in June at the Bol D’ Dor 2019 edition with the support of the GYC. A true „classic modern-day boat“ moored on Lake Léman. Sir Andrew Cook, the owner of Nostromino and member of the GYC, is delighted to share the sailing experience with our members aboard Nostromino and makes it available for charter to Gstaad YC and Royal Thames YC members by arrangement with the GYC.

Optimists, Lasers, 420’s, Dragon Pistou and Motorboat Jimmy

The GYC Club boats are available for private charter and outgoings on the water for members with their families and friends. „Jimmy“ a 230 HP motor boat, is ideal for lake cruising with alpine views and organized pick-nicks on board. It can be charter from GYC with or without driver.

The dragon "Pistou" as well as several Optimists, Lasers and 420’s are based on the lake of Thun and offer an great opportunity for beginners and advanced sailors.

Lake Thun is an hour drive away from Gstaad with the setback of magnificent scenery and backdrop of the Alps. For those who like to refresh their knowledge or to learn sailing on different classes, the GYC offers sailing clinics.

This will be updated and extended once club’s have a clearer view on the COVID-19 situation in their respective country.
