The Gstaad Yacht Club congratulates his Sport Member Nils Theuninck for his 5th place in the category below 19 years sailed at the Laser Standard World U21 Championship 2014 in Douarnez France.
Thanks to the Gstaad Yacht Club, I had three days of training with Robert Scheidt (who is the best Laser sailor ever) on Lake Garda. During these few days, we spent long hours on the water but also in the classroom to discuss about all the important things to know to sail a Laser. The first day the wind was blowing with up to 19 knots, we sailed three hours and practiced a lot of things. The day after we made two and a half hour of downwind training to improve our technique in strong wind. Luckily, the beginning of the last day was less windy. We managed to sail two hours in light wind before the strong wind arrived. When we went back on shore, we had a general overview of the training and also talked about mental: “BE A FIGHTER!” - Nils Theuninck
