In 2008 began what has not yet been acknowledged in the Swiss sailing world. The GYC supported teams with private members engagement to attend the Olympics in Bejing, China. Soon after the GYC Racing team has been founded to support young sailing talent from Switzerland to represent the country in the Olympics and other international races, Weymouth 2012 and Rio 2016 – just to name a few. Since the GYC launched its Racing Team, club members have successfully competed in international regattas and in the Olympics. The GYC currently boasts three members who aim for the next Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. With a Swiss- Belgian, a Swiss-French and a Swiss-Spanish the athletes’ backgrounds are as international as the entire GYC membership. All three have recently been selected for the Swiss Sailing Team. The GYC is their common home away from home whenever they visit Gstaad.
